Bike Clinic – Aaron & friends will help you fix your flats and other mysterious bike problems and teach you a little bike maintenance.  They are always looking for more people who want to help others with their bike maintenance, stop by and talk to us.

Produce Plus – Begins Saturday, June 1st. Eligible customers can pick up Produce Plus checks at participating DC farmers’ markets, and spend those checks on fresh fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, and cut herbs with approved market vendors.  To our new customers, welcome to the program.  And to our returning customers, welcome back!

Food Rescue US – a nonprofit food runner program that gleans leftover, usable food from our vendors.  Food donations are picked up weekly by volunteers at the 1pm close of Market, and donated to the nearest shelter/food pantry that wants use the food.  https://foodrescue.us/

Reids Orchard:  We will have apples as well and sweet cider.  NEW vegetable plants this week:

Zucchini and Yellow Squash plants, Banana Pepper plants: hot and sweet varieties, Cucumber plants.  A few new tomato varieties: Roma, Burpee Beefsteak and Supersonic.  The first of our Geraniums to be ready for planting: Dark Red and Cardinal Red colors… more to follow in a week or two.   NEW herbs this week: Thai Basil, Spicy globe Basil (perfect for container gardening), Orange Mint, Tuscan Blue Rosemary.  Still have supply of cool crop vegetables: kale, spinach, swiss chard, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage green and red, lettuce, many tomato varieties cherry, grape and standard; and pepper varieties sweet and hot herbs including sweet basil, thyme, parsley, sage, lavender.  5 different fruit butters.  Themed herb gardens in 24″ planters: Pizza Herb garden, French Herb garden, Paul Simon Herb garden (parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, basil), & Hot ‘n Spicy Herb garden.   www.reidsorchardwinery.com

No.1 Sons:  Hot Hearts are back.  This batch is extra spicy.  Just a small batch so get to markets early if you love our sour, crunchy fermented cabbage hearts.  Full sour pickles are here.   After fermenting in our barrels for three weeks, they’re ready!   One more week for Super Sours.  Strawberry Kombucha is new.  Berries are from Toigo Orchards.  SPRING IS DELICIOUS!   number1sons.com/

Pleasant Library Friends while supplies last.  Join local author Minh Lê at 10 a.m. for a read-aloud and author talk in the children’s space.  All attendees will get a free copy of one of Mr. Lê’s books while supplies last.  At noon, join us for a performance by Maru Montero dance company, who perform Mexican traditional folk dance, modern Latin dance, including mambo, cha cha, and salsa as well as dances from many other Latin American and Caribbean countries.  At 4 p.m., Los Gallos Negros is a Washington, DC-based mariachi group will perform.  Summer Challenge is open to all ages and includes prizes such as free books, tickets to Washington Nationals games and tickets to raffles.
