Dear Friends of Mount Pleasant Farmers’ Market:  It may be cold now, but come enjoy a beautiful brisk sunny morning and good food.  Stay as long as you can and enjoy the music, snacks, and neighbors.

Market Events:

 

Bike Clinic:  It may be too cold, so their volunteer bike technicians may not be there to tweak your wheels, and show how to do it.

 

Music:  May be a quiet Market in the morning, but Songrise DC, women’s social justice a cappella group will warm your hearts staring at 11a.

Cookbook Sales:  Friends of the Mount Pleasant Library, good cookbooks & other healthy living books.  The Friends group also has a more expansive book sale at the Mount Pleasant Library every Saturday morning.

 

Composting – DC Food Scrap Drop-Off program – free composting.  Look for the bin by the Market Table.

 

What’s Coming to Market:

 

Earth Spring Farm:  We have herbs this week!  Apple mint, spearmint, basil, calendula flowers, red clover, wildflowers, and bunches of things we find in the fields, ….to be determined  =)  Eggs, greens, squash, garlic bulbs and scapes as well.  Come see us early.  earthspringcsa.com

 

Truck Patch Farm:  It’s our second to last market. Stock up on meat to get you through the winter!!!!

Richfield Farm:  Richfield will have regular & Romanesco broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts & every green imaginable. Quaker Valley Orchards:  This will be our last Saturday at the MtP Market.  Specials include: Fill a Quaker valley bag with apples for $25 (approx. 20 lb) and/or purchase a case of jarred goods (12) for $50 (honey not included).  We will be at Dupont Sunday and Silver Spring Saturday Farmers Markets during the winter months!  www.quakervalleyorchards.com

No.1 Sons:  We’ve made a new kimchi for folks who want something without chili and garlic.  It’s a white kimchi, in Korean it’s called Baak kimchi.  We’re calling ours Miso Snow.  It’s made with Napa cabbage and daikon radish with a miso and ginger base. Very tasty in rice bowls, or as a soup topping.

Good Sense Farm – Mushrooms & Apiary:   We have shiitakes, oysters, criminis as far as fresh mushrooms.  We will also have Wanderfood Mushroom Jerky in the following flavors: Rock Creek Original and Blue Mountain Jerk..  www.facebook.com/GoodSenseFarm/

Saturday Morning Yoga – Start your Saturdays with Carol, Marjorie and some relaxing, stress-free yoga.  Everyone is welcome, beginners especially!  Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water.  Bring your own yoga mat or use one of theirs.  10am, MtP Library

 

Saturday Book Sale  –  Come by the library every Saturday, from 11-2p, for weekly Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library book sales. The Friends room is up on the 2nd floor across from the entrance to the Children’s Room.
