Dance in the Round: Circle as Sanctuary! – In light of recent attacks on our communities, there is a special program called Dance in The Round based on the dance form known as ‘garba.’  The word ‘garbh’ in Gujarati means a “womb” or a space of nurture.  We envision Dance in the Round as a space for us to come together, experience collective empowerment and create sanctuary – a safe and nourishing home inside a circle.  Sunday, October 8th, 2:30 – 4:30 PM; Columbia Heights Civic Plaza (14th & Park Rd) — if it rains, we will be in La Casa, 3166 Mt. Pleasant St.

Don’t worry if you’ve never danced garba before!  We begin with an opening warm-up and lesson, as well as guided participation in the dance with MLOV volunteers and partners who happen to also be dancers!  Come and go and dance as you are able — and learn more about MLOV’s current demands to uphold Sanctuary in DC!
