Number 1 Sons: Our resident pickle vendor will have kraut as well as a hot (cabbage) Hearts (still too early for pickles!) — cabbage hearts fermented with lots of spices and habanero peppers. Very crunchy and hot hot hot! Great to add to a salad or to a cheese plate. This is the last week for Golden Galangal Beets. On special for this week is Ramp+Dill Kraut, the quantities are limited, so get it while you can!
Customers can bring back their containers to No. 1 Sons to refill for them! Although note they can’t take them back for others to reuse. Customers can also bring their own jars. · 3rd Annual Spring Fling at The Soldier’s Home. Join your neighbors who served at the Soldier’s Home from 1pm-5pm Saturday, May 2, 2015. “This third annual daytime event is held the first Saturday in May under a big tent on the driving range of the Soldiers Home. Music, food, drink, activities for kids included! Come out and see your neighbors and visit with a veteran.”

· Are you excited about supporting access to healthy food in the city? In partnership with farmers’ markets across the city, DC Greens, a local food access non-profit, is assembling a Farmers’ Market Brigade of volunteers to help implement the Produce Plus program from June through November. Volunteers will distribute Produce Plus checks, collect photos and quotes about the program in action, and serve as hosts who can chat with recipients and answer questions while they’re waiting in line. The Mount Pleasant Farmers’ Market is just one of the locations were DC Greens’ volunteers will be helping out. All volunteers must attend a training session before volunteering at a market!
